Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish Opening Ceremony of the Head-start English Club Successfully Held

On October 19, 2022, the opening ceremony of the Head-start English Club of our school was held. Students who won the privilege to join gathered together, and embarked on a brand-new English journey. Ms. Chen Zi'an from School of Liberal Arts (SoLA) and an enthusiastic group of English learners from various majors attended the opening ceremony.

At the start of the ceremony, Ms. Chen expressed congratulations and gave a sincere welcome to the club’s new members. She hopes that the members will feel the charm of the English language in a motivating atmosphere, and at the same time improve their competitiveness and seize glory and prestige for the college.

In order to enhance the mutual understanding and cooperation between club members so that they can coordinate with each other in the sessions to come, Ms. Chen first introduced herself in a light-hearted manner, which made the atmosphere comfortable and dynamic. After that, Ms. Chen encouraged each member to introduce themselves, writing in English about their own personality on slips of paper, and then letting each member randomly draw lots. The participants greatly enjoyed this masterfully designed introduction activity.

As the saying goes: "If an artisan wants to excel in his craft, he must first sharpen his tools." Following on this, in the first lesson of the training course, Ms. Chen introduced to the participants an efficient and effective method of discovering and learning new words. This novel and creative learning method made each member actively participate in the training session and stimulated their interest in the English language.

As time passed, the first meeting of the Head-start English Club came to an end. At the end of the session, the class participants lined up for a group photo.

In this promising season, these initiates to the Head-start English Club gathered together to explore the charm of the English language. We sincerely hope these new club members will continue to challenge themselves during the course and strive for improvement!
